the Foundation

Founded by Pekka and Rita Niemi in 1993, the Ruissalo Foundation was established to provide high-quality homes and care services for senior citizens. Specialising in high-quality senior homes and residential villages, the non-profit organisation has developed and built 6 large-scale residential developments in Finland and a total of nearly 800 rental apartments.

The aim of the Foundation is to provide senior citizens with modern, comfortable homes, with easy access to services and facilities that improve their quality of life. The organisation specialises in premium quality homes with in-house facilities including swimming pools, restaurants and central services designed to encourage an active life and community within the homes.

The Ruissalo Foundation has also developed and opened a unique hospital facility in Finland, which is specially designed for senior citizens and elderly care. The 214 bed hospital offers temporary hospital care and extended rehabilitation services for the elderly and is directly connected to Kaskenniitty, a senior residence built by the Foundation.
