Sunborn Barcelona, Spain

Sunborn Barcelona Architect's Visual

Our biggest and most important current project is the Sunborn Barcelona which will open in the summer of 2012.

The exclusive 189 room 5-Star Grand Luxury class floating hotel will offer business and leisure guests a unique hotel experience by the Mediterranean a short distance by car from the centre of Barcelona.

Port Forum Barcelona (Feb 2011)

The yacht hotel will be moored adjacent to the world-famous photovoltaic pergola and will become a striking addition to the many buildings designed by world-renowned architects in this exclusive waterfront location.

The location offers easy access to the local amenities and guests will be able to enjoy use of the yacht’s own water taxi service, jet skis and sunbathing catamaran. Downtown Barcelona is just ten minutes away and there are great public transport links.

Telefonica Tower & Forum Building (Feb 2011)

The proximity of the commercial and business district, including the iconic Forum Building, new 110-metre-high Telefonica tower and International Convention Centre (the second largest in Europe) also makes Sunborn Barcelona the ideal base for business as well as leisure travellers.

Ongoing development in the port area – including a new €12m investment in a natural science museum in the Forum Building – is further enhancing the cachet of the marina.

Port Forum Location (Feb 2011)

The Sunborn Barcelona is now in the final stages of construction and fit out.

Over the coming months we will complete all the planning applications and complete the construction of the entrance way to the hotel, as well the landscaping, parking areas, security gates and access routes to and from the hotel for cars, pedestrians and service deliveries.

Pinella Restaurant, Finland

Pinella Colonnade (1922)

Pinella is a unique landmark building dating back to 1836 and occupying a remarkable location next to the river Aura in the heart of Turku, Finland.

The building's location and historical importance meant that when we began the renovation in February 2010 the site was subject to several months of archaeological exploration, resulting in exciting finds dating back to the middle ages as well as the wallpapers and textiles from Pinella's original mid 19th century interiors.

Wood Pinella Interior (March 2010)

The restaurant has a long history as an important cultural and artistic venue, and it was therefore crucial that Sunborn handled Pinella’s renovation with great care and attention to detail.

In 2011 it will be 175 years since the colonnade, the oldest part of Pinella was built. Over this time the building that became home to Pinella has been extended, enlarged and embellished, not always with the most successful results.

The renovation completed by Sunborn cleverly unites the disparate, and often discordant, elements of the original layout, creating uniquely appealing bar, restaurant and entertainment spaces, each with its own design, atmosphere and appeal.

Working under the close supervision of the Finnish Museum the building's original architectural features have been restored, with the new interior also incorporating bold, elegant 21st century details that will redefine Pinella’s appeal for a new generation.
